The Dutch Aramis project
The Dutch case study is the Aramis project, operated by Shell and Total. The learnings from the Aramis case study for baseline stress characterization will contribute to exploiting the Dutch offshore sector to its full potential in support of meeting the Dutch and European commitments to reduce its
CO2 footprints.
A significant number of depleted gas fields and potential aquifers are identified as prospective areas, covering multiple geological intervals, e.g. in the pre-salt Permian Rotliegendes, post-salt Triassic Buntsandstein and Cretaceous Holland Greensand.
The Aramis sites will serve as a baseline characterization of the southern North Sea stress state and possible stress changes that can be expected due to CCS and the related seismogenic behaviour in these systems.
